The most economical accommodation for Cheltenham Convention 2008.
Once again Taunton BHC has arranged for the nearest Youth Hostel to be made available for Barbershoppers looking for accommodation for Convention. As on previous occasions at Brighton provision has been made for us to disregard the 11pm closing time so that we will be able to enjoy the afterglows.
The hostel is at Stow on the Wold. This is about 22 miles from Cheltenham, and the drive, on good A roads, takes about 35 - 40 minutes, but there is parking at the hostel and abundant free parking at the Racecourse.
The hostel sleeps 48. B&B costs £22.45/night for YHA members or £25.45 for non members. (For a large party consider taking out Group Membership so that you can all pay the lower rate).
As in previous years we will ask the Warden to hold the hostel for us until the end of March when in fairness any remaining beds will be available to other YHA members, so please contact Andy as early as possible for availability and information.
If your memories of Youth Hostelling are of sweeping out rooms and peeling potatoes......you're nearly thirty years out of date. Its great fun - warm and comfortable and the cooking is great. The Brighton experience was truly international.
